  • Modèles
XA floor model is, so to speak, one of the possible variations for a floor that complies with a given construction method. There are several models that offer variations on several points: durability, thickness, width, style, finish, etc. The main thing is to choose the model that best suits your needs.
    • AC3

    • AC4
X This model provides higher performance for average commercial use. It is more appropriate in medium traffic commercial contexts. ● Warranty : residential 25 years / commercial 5 years

    • Clic
X A clic floor is by definition a floating floor. It is available in laminate, vinyl and engineered hardwood flooring. The advantage of a click floor is that it is simple to install and is easier to install than a nailed or glued floor. Clic (floating) flooring is usually more affordable than engineered wood flooring to glue and solid hardwood flooring to nail. It is possible to buy a floor made of real wood or imitation wood at an affordable price. This option may be possible if you have a budget to maintain or simply if you like this type of floor.
    • Distinct

TOLERANCE (+/-) 0.010 in (0.254 mm) GRADES Select et Heritage WIDTH 4 3/8 in (111 mm) LENGTHS 10 in to 84 in ( 254 mm to 2133 mm) MOISTURE CONTENT 6 % to 8 % RELATIVE HUMIDITY REQUIRED 37 % to 45 %
    • Elite
X More stable in humid conditions than solid wood flooring, an engineered floor is ideal for multiple installation applications. Made from Baltic birch plywood and a 5/32 inch (4 mm) veneer for a total thickness of ½ inch (13 mm). Engineered Elite floors can be glued, nailed, stapled or laid floating.
    • Elite Plus
X Thicker planks of ¾ inch (19 mm) with a 5/32 inch (4 mm) sliced veneer. Engineered Elite+ floors can be glued, nailed, stapled or laid floating.
    • Gymnasium Flooring
X Gymnasium wood is 1in ¼ thick. It is therefore ½" thicker than a conventional hardwood floor. It is available only in maple hardwood species and in narrow board widths. This is what gives it its strength and stability.
    • Inspire
X THICKNESS 5/8” (16 mm) thick with a 3/32” (2 mm) hardwood top layer and a 9/16’’ (14 mm) canadian plywood made of 5 plies of douglas fir. TOLERANCE (+/-) 0.010 in (0.254 mm) NUMBER OF PLIES 6 plies (5 sub plies and 1 surface ply) GRADES Select and Heritage WIDTHS 5 3/16 in (131 mm) and 7 3/16 in (182 mm) LENGTHS May vary depending on width 10 in to 84 in (254 mm to 2133 mm) MOISTURE CONTENT 6 % to 8 % RELATIVE HUMIDITY REQUIRED 37 % to 45 %
    • Unvarnish
X An unvarnished floor is a floor made of raw wood. It has the same characteristics as a factory varnished hardwood floor, except that it will be finished after installation. It will therefore be delivered without any finishing on the wood and without the v-joints found on a factory finished floor. After sanding on site, you can choose the finish of your choice.
  • Application areas
XThe installation area simply means where the new floor will be installed. Depending on the installation location, you will need to choose the appropriate floor covering. Before installing your new floor, here are some factors to consider: relative humidity and temperature and/or sunlight variations. These criteria are essential because they can influence the durability of your floor in the short or long term.
    • Basement
X Floor coverings for basements must be less sensitive to moisture. Among the floors proposed for this type of room, we have engineering floors and vinyl floors. Solid hardwood and laminate flooring can also be installed in a basement, provided that the necessary moisture tests are carried out before installation. You may need to install a membrane or subfloor before installing a more moisture-sensitive floor covering.
    • Condominium
X Engineering floors are often used in condo spaces. By installing a floor of this type, you install a real layer of wood, which enhances the value of the condo. The engineered floor can be glued directly to the concrete or to a membrane. It can also be floating. Its main advantage is that it is no longer necessary to install plywood before installing it. You can have real hardwood without the need to nail it down and lose height. There are also economical solutions such as laminate floors and vinyl floors. In any case, it is prudent to check with your administrator or condo trustee to determine the soundproofing standards before considering installing your floor. If you do not follow this procedure, you may have to remove your floor that does not comply with the rules of co-ownership.
    • Ground floor and floors
X On the floor or ground floor, you can install all types of flooring available. However, make sure you always keep an adequate temperature and humidity and have the appropriate subfloor before installing your floor. Note that vinyl can deform when exposed to strong sunlight or high heat sources.
  • Colors
XThe shade of the floor defines the color of stain that can be applied to the floor, among the range of possibilities available to you. The so-called "colour of natural wood" is the colour of wood without stain. To preserve the natural colour, simply apply a transparent varnish without any staining. The most popular floor stains are white, brown, red and grey. The most important thing is to find the colour that best suits your personal taste.
    • Light
X Light-coloured floors can be suitable for all types of decor because they blend easily into the decor without darkening it. Traces of dust or other stains are less visible on a light floor. It also has the advantage of making the rooms look larger and brings light to a darker room. It is an excellent choice if you want a versatile floor that will not go out of style over time and that you will not get tired of.
    • Medium
X Medium-coloured floors are well suited to most decorations. It is a good choice for a person who wants to enhance the look of their floor without over-darkening it. An average floor colour will be easier to maintain than a dark colour. A medium color will have the effect of making the grain of the wood uniform without giving the impression of shrinking your room.
    • Dark
X Dark-coloured floors add richness and character to your room even if it tends to darken your space. Its maintenance is more difficult because the dust is more visible to the naked eye.
  • Chandeliers
XThe luster of a floor corresponds to its brilliance. The higher the gloss level, the brighter the floor will be. Conversely, if the percentage of gloss is lower, the floor will be less shiny. Therefore, a matt floor has a low proportion of gloss and a glossy floor has a high degree of gloss. The gloss levels are classified by category. We have the following categories: matt, satin and semi-gloss.
    • Gloss Finish
    • Matte oiled finish
X The advantage of an oiled floor is that with proper maintenance, it will last a lifetime while providing a relaxed atmosphere to your space. Its matt appearance gives you a modern and rustic look. Most designers love it because it goes well with any decor style. However, it is recommended to strictly follow the maintenance and cleaning routines, or even to add a layer of oil from time to time because it has a natural tendency to stain easily.
    • Matte finish
X Matt varnish can give your floor a modern and rustic look. A matt floor will make any scratches and wear marks less noticeable on your floor. Its maintenance is a little more complex because the matt varnish tends to make footprints or other dirt more noticeable.
    • Not finished
X An unfinished floor is a rough wooden floor. It has the same characteristics as a varnished hardwood floor produced in the factory, except that its finish will not be developed in the factory and the floor will therefore be delivered without any finish on the wood and without the v-joints found on prefinished machined floors. After sanding the floor on site, you can choose the finish of your choice and apply it to your floor to give it the protection you want.
    • Satin finish
X The satin-finish floor is on the rise right now. It is a popular choice for most customers because its finishing is easy to maintain and gives a modern look to the floor. Neither too glossy nor too matt, a satin floor will give you the best of both worlds. We encourage you to consult the finishes in the showroom in order to make the right decision.
    • Semi-Gloss Finish
X A semi-gloss floor will reflect the light sources. It is ideal for people who like bright floors. Semi-gloss flooring can be an interesting option to bring light to less bright places as well as make small rooms appear larger.
  • Essence
XThe wood species comes from the species of tree that was originally used to make the floor. Each wood species has its own particularities that can be more or less adapted according to the use you make of it. Some floors are Canadian and some so-called "exotic" floors are from Africa or Brazil. These are just a few examples because there are floor species that come from all over the world. However, our experience has shown us that Canadian floors are better suited to our Quebec climate and therefore offer better performance for our buildings.
    • Ash
X The white ash floor is very hard, durable and flexible. It is reputed to have good shock resistance. This means that ash flooring is a great option for homeowners with pets, children, an active lifestyle or for anyone who doesn’t want to worry unnecessarily about their floors. White ash floors should be installed wherever you want, whether it’s in your business, home or condo. It can be installed even in high-traffic areas, shops or restaurants.En savoir plus
    • Birch
X Native to North America, this hardy wood varies in colors from a creamy white with yellow to a golden brown with red shades. The wavy mineral layers and the average wood grain of the cherry floor provide a subtle touch that gives a clear, unobstructed and contemporary appearance to any space.En savoir plus
    • Cherry
X The Janka notation system is used to determine the relative hardness of the wood. The hardness of the wood can help you assess its durability and determine which type of flooring is best for your situation. This is important when choosing between different varieties of cherry floors, as American and Brazilian cherry trees have very different Janka ratings.En savoir plus
    • Hickory
X In addition, hickory wood is 41% harder than red oak wood, which is the most used wood in the manufacture of hardwood floors, making it an excellent choice for use in all rooms, but especially in busy rooms such as the entrance or the kitchen. A family room is another great place to install hickory floors. Moreover, if you have more than one child or pets, the extremely durable hickory floor can withstand any type of abuse while keeping its beauty.En savoir plus
    • Maple
X Hard maple flooring (commonly called Sugar Maple) is a popular choice mainly because of its light cream color and fine grain. The maple hardwood floor made from the aubier is slightly creamy blonde, while the heartwood has darker reddish-brown tones.En savoir plus
    • Red Oak
X Red oak floors offer a very casual aesthetic, giving your home a unique or rustic feel. The natural grain of the wood enhances the warmth and richness of the floor. Its natural colour varies from pink beige to dark reddish brown and varies little from year to year. The red oak floor has a coarse texture with lots of dark circles on each board.En savoir plus
    • Silver Maple
X Maple floors are prized because of their durability and timeless elegance. There are several types of maple on the Quebec market that are used to make flooring, including sugar maple, silver maple, red or black maple, Pennsylvania maple and many others.En savoir plus
    • Walnut
X The walnut is a high-end wood in hardwood floors. With its remarkable charm, the Floor of American walnut is renowned for its strength and stability. Indeed, the hardwood floor of American walnut is moderately hard and very easy to work with thanks to its properties. Also, its grain allows it to be easily sanded for a nice finish.En savoir plus
    • White Oak
X If you are looking for an attractive and durable hardwood for your home, the white oak floor should suit you. White oak flooring gives your space a timeless, attractive and luxurious atmosphere, while remaining more affordable than exotic or rare wood species.En savoir plus
  • Widths
XRegarding the width of the planks, it should be noted that the narrower the planks, the more stable the floor will be. Indeed, due to the inevitable changes in humidity and temperature, small wooden boards tend to work less "hard". On the other hand, under the same conditions, wooden floors built with wider boards tend to deform more easily. If you really want to buy a wide-plank wooden floor, then choose engineered wood. The engineered floor is made of a wooden lamella glued to plywood. As a result, this type of floor construction is more stable than solid hardwood flooring. So if you like the look of a floor with wide boards, you will have the ideal solution without giving up your dream.

  • Category
XEach floor style has its own category. It is therefore possible to perfectly match your parquet floor to your decor or to give your interior a completely new look. Browse through the different floor categories and find the one that will suit your tastes.
    • Brushed
X Brushed flooring is a process that enhances the texture of the wood. This brushing method creates a texture that forms a ribbed floor. This technology is used only on oak because its grain has two different hardnesses and makes it the ideal wood for this technique. The softer grain is the first to be removed by brushing, and once the floor is installed the surface is not uniform, which is perfect for those who are looking for that antique floor effect or that unique style that this natural irregularity gives.
    • Chiseled
X The chiselled floor has the particularity of having darker or lighter lines in the opposite direction of the wooden slats. These features are similar to mechanically made saw or chain marks. This method of manufacturing the floor is intended to recreate the appearance of an old floor or simply to obtain a floor that is out of the ordinary. If you choose this style of flooring, the result will be anything but conventional.
    • Classic
X The classic floor is timeless. Oak is undoubtedly the most popular species for a classic floor. It is appreciated by all those who love sure values and timeless materials. This type of flooring is the ideal product for wealthy neighbourhoods such as Outremont, Westmount, Notre-Dame-de-grâce, Côte-des- neiges and Ville Mont-Royal. The classic style is suitable for both cozy cottages and luxurious homes.
    • Modern
X Maple is certainly the most modern floor available today. With its discreet and uniform grain, this wood species is the one that will best modernize your decor. The trend is currently to a modern floor. Browse through our online catalogue to see all the floors in this style that we offer and choose according to your preference.
    • Oiled
X The advantage of an oiled floor is that with good maintenance, it will last a lifetime while providing a relaxed atmosphere to your space. Its matt appearance gives you a modern and rustic look. Most designers love it because it goes well with any decor style. However, it is recommended to strictly follow the maintenance and cleaning routines, or even to add a layer of oil from time to time because it has a natural tendency to stain easily.
    • Rustic
X This floor category is well suited for cottages, taverns and shops. You can find a wide range of rustic floors from high-end to more affordable entry-level. If you want to give a country style to your space or play with contrasts with your modern décor, the rustic.
    • Square wood
X Square wood is an unfinished floor made of raw wood. It has the same characteristics as a varnished hardwood floor produced in the factory, except that its finish will not be developed in the factory. The floor will therefore be delivered without any finishing on the wood and without the v-joints found on machined pre-painted floors. After sanding the floor on site, you can choose the finish of your choice and apply it to your floor to give it the protection you want.
    • Top of the line
X Premium floors are usually a little more expensive than the average of other floors. In this category you have the choice between several solid wood and engineering floors that will enhance your space. If you want to enhance the value of your home or simply keep its warm character, L'Artisan du Plancher's high-end floors will satisfy you.
  • Grade
XThere are three main grades for hardwood floors. There is the select and better grade, the natural grade and the rustic grade which are commonly referred to as the primary grades. Secondary grades are called this because they are produced from primary grades. Thus we obtain the peaceful grade from the natural grade and the selected and better grade and this is the case for all other grades. The important thing to know is that the more colour variations and knots there are in the floor, the more affordable it will be. Colour variations do not necessarily indicate a quality defect but rather a question of aesthetic choice based on personal taste, which must be carefully respected because it is a long-term investment.
