What to do during sanding work?
-
To facilitate the execution of tasks and avoid any harmful air circulation, you should leave the premises for the entire duration of the work. Otherwise, you will need to stay in a room that is not required for the work.
-
Particularly during the finishing stage, our team should be alone on site to avoid any air circulation. From the application of varnish, and for the next 48 hours, do not open doors or windows, and do not walk on the floors unless advised otherwise by your flooring professional.
-
Do not walk on surfaces during or after sanding, varnishing, or oiling.
-
Air movements during varnishing should be kept to a minimum. Make sure you have turned off all ventilation systems, and closed windows and doors. These guidelines must be followed for 24 hours after applying the layers of varnish.
-
Make sure your doors and windows are airtight. For example, entrance halls are often poorly insulated. During the winter season, cold air can circulate dust on the floor. This could affect the adhesion of varnish to your wooden floor.
-
It is important to leave the lights on even after the finish is completed to create optimal varnishing conditions. Indeed, high luminosity improves the drying process and provides a better quality finish.
-
Although our professional and qualified staff handles our heavy machinery with due care, it may happen that the walls suffer some scratches during the transport of our equipment to the interior of your home.
-
To achieve a quality sanding, it is essential to bring the edger (machine used to sand the contour of rooms) as close as possible to the quarter-rounds. Consequently, you may need to plan for paint touch-ups at the bottom of the walls.
-
The application of stain, a very fluid liquid, is very delicate. Even taking all usual precautions, traces of coloration are sometimes unavoidable on surrounding materials. You may need to plan for paint touch-ups or cleaning for this purpose.
-
To appreciate the final result of floor sanding work, one should stand in the center of the room and observe the work. Moreover, floor or stair work should be observed at eye level (standing).
-
Your satisfaction is important to us and we strive to achieve work as close to perfection as possible. A margin of error, qualified as human, is however possible and accepted by APCHQ standards. Remember that the work is done largely by hand and a certain margin of error is normal.
-
Wood is a natural material. Its beauty and charm lie in its variety and originality. Especially when applying a stain, color shades can vary in intensity, even on a single board. In other words, the coloration may appear in different shades depending on the type, species, and grade of the wood. Don’t be surprised to find that the wood in one room differs slightly from the wood in another room.
-
If you opt for our dustless floor sanding service, please note that to date, no technology allows for 100% dust-free sanding.
-
Since the temperature can vary from one house to another, it is possible that the protective coating applied to your wood may take longer to dry than usual. In such a situation, we kindly ask for your full cooperation in allowing us the necessary time to complete the work to the highest standards.
-
As much as possible, you should maintain a temperature of 22 degrees Celsius with a variance of ± three degrees and a relative humidity between 40% and 55%. If you leave the premises during the work, you must provide the necessary instructions to the team leader so that they can control the indoor temperature in your absence.
-
At any time during the work, if an action, maneuver, event, process or service is different from the agreement initially made with a member of our team, or if you are dissatisfied in any way, it is your responsibility to immediately notify the person concerned.
